Pedodontics (Pediatric Dentistry)
Pedodontics (Pediatric Dentistry)
0-16 (Pediatric Dentistry) is a curriculum aiming the healthy preservation of the milk and permanent teeth of children aged 0-13, and the problems caused by decays, trauma, genetic and similar factors in these teeth. Pedodontia is a dentistry that follows and treats mouth-to-dental health and chin-facial development of infants starting from childhood, as well as takes protective measures at the same time.
On the child’s first birthday, visit the child’s specialist dentist. Repeating these visits every 2-3 months will be very useful. Clean your child’s teeth with only a toothbrush before night sleeps and daytime naps. Help your child with oral care while all of the milk teeth are still in place (2.5-3 years).
Oral and dental health during childhood is seriously affecting future oral and dental health. For this reason, resolving problems that occur within this period quickly and preventing the occurrence of new problems has great importance in the prevention of serious problems that might be experienced in the future.
Pedodontics are basically divided into 2 parts:
Treatment of already established problems:
Includes all treatments such as filling, root canal therapy, tooth extraction, placeholders.
• Protective dentistry applied to prevent the formation of problems:
These applications are intended to protect teeth against decaying. Nowadays, as in all fields of medicine, preventive medicine, which is basically stopping the problem before it occurs, has gained importance in dentistry as well. Preventive dentistry is especially important for children. Since they are effortless, inexpensive and painless, it is preferred that children have their first encounter with the dentist in relation to preventive dentistry.
